Year 9 Commerce students ran two successful Market Days last week.
Highlights from the Year 9 Commerce Market Day!
Mercy Square was buzzing at lunchtime on both Tuesday and Friday last week as Year 9 students showcased their entrepreneurial skills at the highly anticipated Year 9 Commerce Market Day.
As part of the Running a Business unit in Commerce, students work collaboratively in small groups to experience every stage of operating a small business, from conducting market research and developing business ideas to selling products and completing business reports.
The market stalls featured a wide variety of products and activities, including jewellery, cosmetics, keyrings, lucky dips, mini games and many other creative offerings. With plenty of eager customers visiting throughout both days, the event provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a real world setting.
Mr J. Campbell, Social Science Teacher, said that he felt the market days were very successful with the stalls attracting lots of customers. “We did something a bit different this year with no food stalls allowed so the students had to be really creative with their business ideas”.
The Year 9 Student Media Team also captured the excitement of the event, producing a news clip that highlights the energy and creativity on display throughout the market days.
