CELEBRATING 60 YEARS ๐ As we continue celebrating 60 years of Catherine McAuley, weโre looking back at moments that helped shape our school story. In 1986, new turf was laid around the recently completed building now known as The Forum, and with a school full of eager helpers, students and staff rolled up their sleeves and got involved. These photos capture students lending a hand, Sr Barbara McDonough, Principal, overseeing the project, and the finished result - a wonderful reminder of the community spirit and teamwork that has always been part of McAuley.

๐ PRAYER WEEK AT McAULEY ๐ This week, the school community came together in faith for โPrayer Weekโ - a special time where we come together to unite in prayer, reflection, and understanding. Throughout the week, students and staff participated in a range of meaningful activities, including a Prayer Jar, Prayer Mural, Travelling Prayer Board, and Prayer Tree, each encouraging us to grow in faith, compassion, and connection with one another. ๐ค The week will end with a prayer of the Rosary tomorrow at lunchtime in the Chapel.Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this week such a beautiful celebration of faith, unity, and prayer. A very special thank you to our Liturgy Leaders, Riane S. and Charlotte B., for organising such a meaningful week, and to Ms G. Banks for her continued support of the students.

A remarkable act of generosity has found a new home at Catherine McAuley Westmead. ๐ซถ ๐น Yesterday, the school was delighted to receive the donation of a beautiful baby grand piano - a treasured family heirloom that had proudly sat in its ownersโ family home for 90 years. While the generous couple had no direct connection to our school, they were determined to find a place where this special instrument would continue to be loved, valued and well-used. Their kindness is a wonderful reminder of the goodness of people and a true reflection of the Mercy value of hospitality in action. We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful gift and look forward to seeing it inspire and bring joy to Catherine McAuley students for many years to come. ๐ Ms K. Picone, Leader of Learning Creative and Performing Arts said, โWords cannot express how delighted we are to welcome this extraordinary instrument into our music program. It will be truly transformative for our students, particularly those undertaking HSC Music, who will now have the privilege of preparing and performing their program on a beautiful baby grand piano. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS ๐๐๐ Well done to Year 12 student Rihanna Ella B. who last weekend competed in Melbourne at the Victorian State Jiu-Jitsu Championship and won a silver medal in the Juvenile 2 Blue Belt Category. Rihanna is currently ranked 14th in Australia in the Juvenile Division! Well done Rihanna on your achievements and your dedication to Jiu-Jitsu.

LIFTED UNLEASHED โ An inspiring day for the Years 9 & 10 students who attended! A day of music, reflection, prayer and meaningful conversations, students had the opportunity to connect with peers from across the Diocese and strengthen their faith journey. A highlight for many students was stepping outside their comfort zones to build new friendships and reflect on important questions about faith and life. Moments of praise and worship, inspiring talks and Eucharistic Adoration created a powerful experience that reminded students they are never alone and that God is always by their side.

LIFTED RISE โ On Wednesday, 6th April, a group of Year 8 students attended LIFTED Rise at Nagle College Blacktown, taking part in a meaningful and engaging day filled with song, dance, reflection, and opportunities to connect with students from schools across the Diocese. The theme of the day was TRUTH, encouraging students to think deeply about questions such as, โWhat does real truth look like in todayโs world?โ Through talks, personal stories, activities, and videos, students explored how perspectives can differ and how challenging it can sometimes be to recognise truth in a world influenced by opinions and misleading media. Throughout the day, students stepped outside their comfort zones, formed new friendships, and gained valuable insights into themselves, others, and their faith. The experience reminded students that truth can always be found through Godโs word and the Gospel. It was a memorable and enriching experience from which students took so much away.

A group of Catherine McAuley students recently had the privilege of attending the Regional Sport for Jove Shakespeare Carnival at Penrith Selective High School, showcasing their creativity, dedication and passion for the performing arts. The Sport for Jove Shakespeare Carnival is a festival that brings together hundreds of like-minded drama students from across the state. Students present performances inspired by the works of William Shakespeare through a range of theatrical forms including physical theatre, dance, music, ensemble scenes, smart film and more. In conjunction with the CAPTIVATE After School Ensemble, Catherine McAuley entered three teams into the competition: a duologue performing a scene from Much Ado About Nothing, an ensemble scene, and a physical theatre team, with both latter groups performing scenes from Othello. Catherine McAuley achieved outstanding success, with two of the three teams progressing to the next round of the competition. The Physical Theatre and Ensemble Teams will now advance to the State Carnival, which will take place across two days at the Seymour Centre in June. Well done to all students involved! ๐๐๐

STEM WEEK ๐ง Today for STEM Week it was a marshmallow tower building challenge!! Students put their engineering skills to the test as they competed to build the tallest and strongest tower using only marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti. This fun, hands-on activity introduced students to the engineering design process, encouraging them to think critically and explore how engineers develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.
