Ms M.Refalo, Police Youth Liaison Officer Senior Constable Brad Martin, Ava M. and Stella R. presented with their certificates.
Congratulations to year 12 student Ava M. and year 11 student Stella R., who proudly participated in the NSW Police Force Youth Program.
The four-day program, held from 28th April to 1st May, provided students with an introduction to policing and valuable insight into careers within the NSW Police Force. Ava and Stella thoroughly enjoyed the experience and embraced every opportunity throughout the course. As part of the program, students participated in a range of practical and educational activities designed to showcase the many pathways within policing.
Reflecting on their experience, Ava and Stella shared:
“We completed a fitness session and learnt how important physical fitness is within the police force, as officers need to maintain a high level of fitness so they are prepared for the physical demands of the job. The session gave us a better understanding of the discipline, commitment, and training required to become a police officer.
Throughout the week, we met many people from different areas of the police force and learnt that policing involves far more than just one role, hearing from senior constables, meeting specialist units, and visiting areas like forensics, the dog squad, and police rescue. We also visited a police station and saw firsthand how officers operate day-to-day, how jobs are received, how decisions are made quickly, and how teamwork matters. We also heard different police stories and how they deal with them.

We were able to look at police vehicles and equipment and understand how it all works together to keep the community safe. The highlight of the week for us was travelling to the Goulburn Police Academy. A tour of the facilities and training spaces were also provided as we learnt about the various programs and rooms used throughout the academy, and then watched an official graduation ceremony for Class 368.
Overall, this was an extremely valuable experience, and we learnt so much about not only what the police do, but also about the standards expected and the opportunities available across the force.”
Ava and Stella were presented with their certificates last Friday by Police Youth Liaison Officer, Senior Constable Brad Martin, recognising their involvement and commitment throughout the program.
We are proud to see our students exploring pathways of service, leadership, and community engagement.
