Catherine McAuley Swimming Carnival 2026

The rain did not dampen the House spirit as the McAuley community came together for the school swimming carnival, held last Friday 27th February at the Parramatta Aquatic Centre.

Despite the wet weather, around 320 students made their way to the pools, bringing with them energy, enthusiasm and plenty of house pride. The carnival featured a combination of competitive and novelty races, offering opportunities for all students to be able to participate.

A highlight of the day was the Fastest Girl in the School (50m Freestyle) event. Congratulations to Maisy C., who claimed the title. Well done also to students Ruby S. who placed second and Billie F. who followed in third. Also, the ever-popular Staff vs Students Race also had spectators eagerly watching to see who would take the win - the students came out on top this year.

Adding extra colour to the day, the Year 12 students embraced their dress-up theme of ‘Sailors’, proudly sporting sailor hats as they celebrated a memorable milestone - their final school swimming carnival.

Simultaneously, back at school, the majority of students who opted to stay on campus enjoyed an ‘onland’ swimming carnival in the Morley Centre. Their day was filled with various relay activities, team challenges, and plenty of enthusiastic cheering, ensuring that everyone could participate in the fun regardless of the weather.

“The Swimming Carnival was a fantastic day filled with energy and House spirit. It was wonderful to see so many students participating, competing with enthusiasm, proudly supporting their Houses through their participation in the novelty events held both at the pool and back at school.” - Ms Papazoglou, Sports Coordinator
