A reminder of the school theme for 2026 - Walk In Unity, Nourish Our Community.

The 2026 school theme, Walk In Unity, Nourish Our Community, continues to guide the Catherine McAuley Westmead community this year.

The theme was first introduced at a school assembly in October last year. As many of our new Year 7 families were not part of the community at that time, it is timely to revisit the theme and share the thinking behind its selection by the Student Leaders.

The School Captains Talia K. and Lara Z. have explained that the theme reflects the individuality of each student while reinforcing the shared mission of faith that connects the community. It is a reminder that while every student brings something unique, all walk together with a common purpose.

“The image of the boot reflects the walking nuns, a group of strong women, who went against society’s expectations of silent, hidden nuns, to support Catherine in spreading the Gospel throughout Ireland,” Talia and Lara said at last year’s assembly.

These women stepped beyond expectations to bring compassion and service to those in need. Like them, we are called to put on our boots of mercy and walk in faith, going out to nourish our community through good works and thus fostering unity.

“The boot encapsulates the paths we carve out on our journey, each person sets out on their individual path, strengthening their unique talents and embracing their diversity. However the path all leads to the shared goal of unity through Christ and his teachings, reinforcing the togetherness of the Catherine McAuley community, while celebrating our individuality.”

“The bouquet of flowers, each a different House colour, further reinstate how our individual efforts bring us together to create one driving force…flowers must be nourished with water, good soil and sunlight to flourish, which is why we want to emphasise the nourishment of our community this year, so that we, as McAuley girls are able to nurture our communities.”

The School Captains finished their address to the school community reminding everyone that the new theme and logo reminds us all of the diversity within the school, while mirroring the common mission to spread the Gospel, strengthen our faith and foster connection at Catherine McAuley Westmead.
