Catherine McAuley Assistant Principal Michael Hall is retiring at the end of the 2025 school year.
Mr Hall has worked at Catherine McAuley for three years and has led the school’s learning and teaching agenda during this time. In this role he has worked closely with students, teachers, the school leadership team and colleagues at Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta. He has also taught Year 10 Religious Education each year he has been at this school.
In previous positions, Mr Hall has been the Assistant Principal at Nagle College, Blacktown and St Andrew’s Catholic College, Marayong. He was an exemplary Religious Education and History teacher, and he spent his early teaching years as a primary school teacher. Throughout his career, Mr Hall has been well-loved by students and school staff members alike.
Mr Hall will be greatly missed by his students and colleagues at Catherine McAuley Westmead. At the Academic Awards Assembly held on Friday, 12th December School Captains Talia K. and Lara Z. farewelled Mr Hall on behalf of the students:
While celebrating all of our academic achievements, we can not forget all the hard work and effort Mr Hall has put into being our Assistant Principal. Mr Hall serves as a significant role model for the lives of the entire Catherine McAuley community. Each day, he upholds and strengthens our school through his patience, compassion, and sincere commitment to the growth and wellbeing of every student.
Mr Hall's quiet encouragement, thoughtful guidance, and consistent integrity has further shaped Catherine McAuley into a place where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to do their best. His impact is felt not just in big moments, but in the everyday interactions in Mercy Square or the library, that show how deeply he cares for our school.
We are genuinely grateful for everything you have done and continue to do for each one of us, and we hope the future rewards your kindness as you continue a journey outside of Catherine McAuley.

VINNIES CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION ✨ Congratulations to Year 10 student Camille E. who has been chosen as one of only five winners in the Vinnies Christmas Card Competition. Camille’s artwork will now be printed on the St Vincent de Paul official member Christmas cards for 2026. With nearly 400 entries received by St Vincent de Paul for this competition this is a wonderful achievement by Camille! THE STORY OF CHRISTMAS ✨ Catherine McAuley students are bringing some festive cheer to those walking or driving along Darcy Road as their Christmas artworks are displayed along the fence for all to see. The Religious Education Department ran a Christmas Story Art Competition with students invited to submit a 2D artwork that shows the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Jesus and the message of peace, hope, joy and love. Students chose to focus on different elements in their designs with some drawing pictures of the Nativity scene, others the angels and shepherds or Mary and Joseph’s journey and others looking at symbols of light, peace and faith. The winning artworks were printed onto Christmas cards and 18 artworks have been printed and displayed on the fence along Darcy Road. Well done to all students who submitted an artwork and to those who have been selected.

YEAR 10 PASS GO FULL NINJA! 💪 Year 10 PASS wrapped up the year in the best way possible - taking on the challenges at Tru Ninja Warrior! From the moment they arrived, the energy was sky-high with students pushing themselves, cheering each other on and celebrating every win. One of the biggest highlights? Conquering the warped wall! Big smiles, much excitement and huge support from everyone watching below. 🙌 The day was not just about tackling obstacles, but also putting a year’s worth of skills into action with strength, endurance, balance, coordination and strategy all on display. More importantly, it was a chance for both classes to bond, laugh and finish the year on a high as they head towards their senior years. The students have passed on a very big thank you to Ms B. On Sunday 30th November, a group of Year 10 students flew to Melbourne to attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF). The students had an absolutely fantastic experience! ✝ Over the days of ACYF the students deepened their faith through the plenaries, Mass, adoration and confession, as well as the many engaging and meaningful workshops they attended in which speakers recounted their personal encounters with God and shared their own testimony. Miss E. Pasion, who accompanied the students, said that the students met so many wonderful people, went on a 5km pilgrimage walk with 6000 other pilgrims, and grew closer to God and one another. It was an experience they will never forget!

JRS FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES 🎄 As Term 4 wraps up, the Catherine McAuley Westmead community has come together for a final burst of fundraising and awareness for the Jesuit Refugee Service. All funds raised this term will help JRS continue empowering refugees in our local community. 💛 Years 9 & 10 Clare students ran a very popular ice cream stall 🍦, Year 10 Skills for Life students created and sold festive Christmas lolly bags 🎁, and this week the school delivered all donated items for the JRS Foodbank.🥫 Thank you to every student, staff member and family who supported these initiatives. Yesterday a group of students toured the construction site of our new building - and excitement is definitely building! From the incredible progress on-site to the stunning views over Westmead, the students were seriously impressed. 👀🌇
