Catherine McAuley Westmead was acknowledged and thanked at the Women’s Community Shelters Walk the Talk Awards held at NSW Parliament House last week on Thursday, 6th November.
“Every day on social media Catherine McAuley was posting a new thing which they had done. Every day was an extraordinary and beautiful activity,” Julia Fleming, Education Officer, Women’s Community Shelters, told those gathered at the awards ceremony. “Well done team Catherine McAuley! You have shown us how to ‘Walk the Talk’ this year.”

Six Year 10 students, along with Ms Brincat, Acting Assistant Principal and Mrs Kempys, Leader of Learning Wellbeing Year 10, attended the awards ceremony. These awards recognise the efforts of young people in schools in support of the Walk the Talk Program and Women's Community Shelters.
The Walk the Talk program educates students about the elements of healthy relationships and the nature and characteristics of relationship abuse and coercive control. Catherine McAuley has long been a supporter of Women’s Community Shelters through the school’s support of the Parramatta Women’s Shelter.
Year 10 student Victoria McCann addressed the audience on behalf of the school. She told them about the over $15,000 raised in support of the Parramatta Women's Shelter this year.
Following the ceremony the students were presented with certificates of appreciation. The students also had the opportunity to write postcards with messages of support for some of the women who are in the shelters.
