Year 10 Students Implement Awareness Campaign About Domestic Violence

Year 10 students have put together a powerful display in the school library.

In Term 2, Year 10 participated in the Walk the Talk program, promoted by the Parramatta Women’s Shelter, which encouraged students to implement an awareness campaign within our school community about domestic violence (DV) and abuse.

As part of this initiative, the Mercedes Homeroom organised ‘The Butterfly Effect’, an activity designed to spark a ripple effect of acknowledgement, empathy, and understanding around DV.

Each Year 10 student wrote a meaningful message about domestic violence on a purple butterfly, which was then combined with others to form a butterfly mosaic, now displayed in the Library.

The butterfly serves as a symbol of change, created from many small messages and shared reflections, with the hope of inspiring the wider school community to become more aware and knowledgeable about this serious issue.
