The Senior Netball Team won the 2025 PDSSSC Netball Gala Day.
The Catherine McAuley Senior Netball Team has won the PDSSSC Netball Gala Day held last Thursday, 25th July 2025.
The grand final was held against Marian College Kenthurst with a convincing 49 - 10 win by Catherine McAuley.
Ms C. Tran, Senior Netball Team Coach has written the following report:
What a season it has been for our Senior Netball Team! From the very first game, they brought intensity, teamwork, and determination to the court - and it all paid off with a well-deserved Grand Final win at the recent gala day.
What stood out most was the team’s attitude. They approached every game with humility, never underestimating their opponents and always giving their best effort no matter who they were up against. This grounded mindset, combined with their strong teamwork and discipline, played a huge part in their success.
The girls demonstrated consistency, resilience, and a genuine love for the game. They supported each other on and off the court, lifted their intensity when it mattered most, and always played with heart. Their grand final performance was no exception - a confident and composed display of everything they had worked so hard on.
As their coach, I’m incredibly proud of them not just as athletes but as a team. Their positive spirit and sportsmanship made them wonderful ambassadors for our school.
Congratulations again to our Senior Netball Team - you’ve earned this win and every bit of recognition that comes with it!

TEAM BUILDING FOR YEAR 9 💪 What an amazing day!! A one day outdoor recreation experience for Year 9 to foster team building and resilience was held last Friday, 25th July at Vision Valley, Arcadia. All students were positively challenged throughout each activity as they also developed skills in problem solving and critical thinking. “The camaraderie of students was at an all time high as girls encouraged one another to climb higher, work together on the mountain bikes or team up in activities like archery tag”, said Mrs L. Beadman, Leader of Learning Wellbeing Year 9.

SUBJECT CHOICE 🧐 Biology? Business Services? English Advanced? Hopefully last night all questions were answered as the Year 10 students and their parents attended the Year 11 2026 Subject Selection Evening. Students and their parents had the opportunity to speak with Leaders of Learning Curriculum and subject teachers who were available for questions. Following the subject market a parent information session was held with parents hearing about the many pathways of study at Catherine McAuley as well as the NESA requirements for the HSC.

FRIENDSHIP DAY 🌼 Yesterday was International Friendship Day and as part of the celebration the Student Sport Leaders organised a Wellbeing Just Dance event. Students were able to come together with their friends, including some of our visiting Japanese exchange students, and have some fun dancing. An added bonus was that all students who were active and participated earned a House point with 442 House points collated.

AMAZING EFFORT!! 🙌 🙌 The Parramatta Women’s Shelter was presented with a cheque for $7000 and a gift voucher amount of $4180 at the school assembly today! ‼️ These amounts were in addition to the over $3000 worth of grocery items already donated and the 20 blankets and other crafted items made by the Crochet Club. The total amount contributed is over $14,000!! 🥳 “The grand total raised by Catherine McAuley Westmead is extraordinary! WELCOME 🥰 Today at the school assembly the school officially welcomed the 10 visiting students and their teacher from Iida Girls School, Nagano, Japan who will be at Catherine McAuley for the next two weeks. The students have been matched with a Catherine McAuley ‘buddy’ who they will accompany to classes and in addition the visiting students will spend time with all of the Catherine McAuley Japanese classes. Catherine McAuley Japanese Teacher Ms Y. Jang said the visit by the students from Iida Girls School is a wonderful opportunity for the Catherine McAuley Japanese students to practise their language skills. “The Japanese which the students use in class can now be used by them in real situations,” she said. Two of the visiting students spoke at the school assembly this morning and told the McAuley community a little bit about their school. “Although Japan and Australia are far apart, we are very happy to have this opportunity to connect with all of you,” they said. “We hope that by learning about each other we can become even closer in the future.” 🇯🇵

Visual Arts students from Years 9 and 10 visited the Art Gallery of NSW this week. 🎨 The students had the opportunity to not only immerse themselves in the 2025 Archibald, Wynne and Sulman artworks but to also be inspired by other artworks in the gallery. Year 9 were particularly inspired by Margaret Preston, recognised for her artworks of still life, which will inspire them for their current printmaking lino endeavours. Year 10 were looking closely at portraiture and self expression, recreating a portrait with their own setting and props.
