Geography students recently attended an overnight field trip to the South Coast.

A group of keen Year 10 Geographers, from the Global Connections class, set off on an overnight field trip on Thursday 26th June, exploring the physical and human geography of the south coast.

The first stop was Minnamurra Rainforest, where students collected data to test the conditions of the air, soil, wind and water quality. The rainforest was a cool 8 degrees, but by the time we hiked to the top of the waterfall everybody had well and truly warmed up!

We visited Werri Beach in Gerringong, and saw the impact the recent wind storm had left on the coastline. Day two included visits to both of the Kiama blowholes, and more hands-on fieldwork at Windang Foreshore, where Lake Illawarra meets the Pacific Ocean.

Along the way, students were able to see the human connections to these places, and the geographical processes that transform the environment.
