On Tuesday, 7th May ten Catherine McAuley students attended Loreto Kirribilli for a Kids' Lit 2024 Heat. There are 15 heats throughout NSW and the winners of each heat go through to the final in June.

Unfortunately we did not get through to the final but the girls really enjoyed the experience of competing against the other teams. Kids' Lit is a competition that gives students who are keen readers, a chance to show their love of literature. In teams of four, they answer 100 questions that test their knowledge of children's books, classics and contemporary fiction for young people.

The wonderful children's author, Nat Amoore, was a very entertaining host and quiz master for their heat and created an exhilarating atmosphere for the competitors. The girls felt their participation in the competition was well worth the effort.

Their comments on the experience included that, “it's a good opportunity to challenge yourself” and “at the end of the day, we learnt a great deal”. The students also agreed that the regular Thursday after school practice sessions with Ms Newman in the library had really strengthened their friendship.
