Mr Jaie Skinner started at the school at the beginning of Term 2 2021 as Assistant Principal and will join Ms Debbie Grigson who is the school’s other Assistant Principal. Mr Skinner was officially welcomed at a school assembly on the first day of term and was given the traditional Mercy blessing and welcome.
Mr Skinner addressed the school community and thanked everyone for their warm welcome. He had two main messages, one for students and one for staff.
For students he told them that based upon his different roles at different schools he has found there to be one constant and that is that students are more than they know. “Every part of your character can be extended upon, grown and pushed...you are more than you currently are...which is the exciting thing about being young. My challenge to you all is to think carefully about who you could be and aim to be that person”.
For staff he thanked Ms Rossetti for her tremendous work and acknowledged that the school’s many successes have only come about through diligent and determined application to the task at hand. He applauded the staff for these efforts.
Mr Skinner was previously the Assistant Principal at Gilroy Catholic College, Castle Hill and prior to that appointment worked at St Columba’s College, Springwood, in a range of leadership positions.

EDUCATION PERFECT LANGUAGE COMPETITION 🤩 Yesterday at the school assembly our Language students who participated in the Education Perfect International Languages Competition were acknowledged. Students who had received a Credit or Bronze Certificate had already been presented at their Year Assembly and yesterday the Silver, Gold, Emerald and Elite Certificates were presented. The school was delighted to have Education Perfect representative Larissa Aryan present the certificates. Catherine McAuley achieved outstanding results in the competition placing 1st overall in NSW, 4th overall in Australia and 8th overall globally! Amazing results from our students!!

A group of our Year 12 students recently had the opportunity to attend the Future Focus Day at the University of Sydney, gaining valuable insight into university life and post-school pathways. 👩🎓 The day was designed to inspire and inform senior students as they prepare for the next stage of their academic and career journeys. Students participated in a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions featuring current university students.

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS ➡ Year 10 Design and Technology students of Mr Munro have finished making their storage solution projects. Students had an open brief for what they could design as long as it was something for either a pet, themselves, a family member or the household. Students had a $40 budget between two students and could also use items they could find at school or home. The items had to be under 40cm. The students have made a wonderful range of storage solutions!

Catherine McAuley had a small number of students attend the 2025 Indigenous Veterans Commemoration Service held last Friday, 30th May at the Hyde Park War Memorial. The students joined with other Indigenous students and staff from the Jarara Cultural Centre, Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese for the service.

YEAR 7 PEER MENTORING 🥰 The Peer Mentoring Program continues with Year 7 students joining with their Year 10 Peer Mentors every Thursday afternoon. The program will continue through to the end of Term 2. Last week in their groups the students were looking at resilience and participating in activities with resilience the focus. “Resilience is an important skill to learn, whether it be with study, with friendship groups or a whole range of different situations,” says Peer Mentor Lyoni. The students played a game with cards which outlined a situation which might happen and the students needed to consider and discuss the positives which could come out of that situation.
