Congratulations to Mercedes House who were announced as the Overall Athletics Champions for 2026. Mercedes House were also equal 1st in the House Cheer Off.
The 2026 Athletics Carnival celebrated outstanding student achievement, participation and school spirit, with impressive individual performances and strong competition across all Houses.
At the school assembly on Wednesday, 29th April, the results of the 2026 Athletics Carnival were announced, celebrating the outstanding participation, achievement and school spirit demonstrated across the day.
The highlight of the carnival was the announcement of the Overall Athletics House Champion, awarded to the House that accumulated the highest number of points across both competitive and non-competitive events. Congratulations to Mercedes House, who were crowned the 2026 Overall Athletics House Champions!
Final placings were:
1st: Mercedes
2nd: Veritas
3rd: Ryan
Equal 4th: Caritas and Coolock
School spirit was also on full display during the House Cheer Off, with Mercedes and Veritas both sharing the top cheer!

In the Non-Competitive Events (points awarded for participation and novelty activities) House winners were:

In the Competitive House Results (this includes results in track and field events) the House winners were:

2nd: Veritas
3rd: Caritas
4th: Coolock
Veritas House were announced as Equal 1st in the House Cheer Off, sharing 1st place with Mercedes.
Individual student achievement was also recognised through the Age Champion awards, presented to the students who earned the highest number of points within their age group.
12 Years Age Champions
3rd: Sienna J. (Clare) – 18 points
2nd: Neve C. (Caritas) – 24 points
1st: Nicole B.(Clare) – 32 points
Mia T. (Year 7, Dobson) also broke the 12 Years Shot Put record with a throw of 11.45m, surpassing the previous record of 10.95m.
13 Years Age Champions
Equal 2nd: Kylene B. (Caritas) and Cyana J. (Ryan) – 24 points
1st: Esperanza T. (Veritas) – 28 points
Esperanza also broke the 13 Years 800m record, recording a time of 2:40.59 and surpassing the previous record of 2:43.40.
14 Years Age Champions
3rd: Scarlett L. (Mercedes) – 30 points
2nd: Sophie S. (Caritas) – 38 points
1st: Michelle P. (Coolock) – 50 points
15 Years Age Champions
Equal 3rd: Zara S. (Caritas), Alana K. (Clare) and Niamh F. (Mercedes) – 23 points
2nd: Tania T. (Mercedes) – 24 points
1st: Georgie S. (Coolock) – 43 points
16 Years Age Champions
3rd: Jianne C. (Mercedes) – 25 points
2nd: Manda L. (Dobson) – 38 points
1st: Annisha R. (Mercedes) – 57 points
Annisha also broke the 16 Years Discus record with a throw of 43.38m, exceeding the previous record of 39.99m.
Clara Fetrie (Year 11, Caritas) delivered an exceptional performance, breaking two records. She set a new 16 Years 100m record of 12.16 seconds (previous record: 13.04 seconds), breaking the record twice in one day, and also broke the 16 Years 200m record with a time of 25.27 seconds (previous record: 26.88 seconds).
17 Years Age Champions
3rd: Tanisha S. (Clare) – 24 points
2nd: Taylah C. (Veritas) – 27 points
1st: Evonne S. (Veritas) – 57 points
18 Years Age Champions
3rd: Cailin B. (Veritas) – 20 points
2nd: Erin M. (Mercedes) – 44 points
1st: Bailey S. (Ryan) – 56 points
The Overall Athletics Champions for 2026 were also recognised. In a closely contested result, Bailey S. (Ryan) placed second with 56 points, just one point behind the equal first-place winners, Annisha R. (Mercedes) and Evonne S. (Veritas), who both finished on 57 points.

PDSSSC GRAND FINAL 🏉 The Senior Oztag McAuley B Team competed last Thursday, 23rd April, in the PDSSSC Grand Final against St Patrick’s College Dundas. In a tightly contested and hard fought match, the team narrowly went down 1-0. The team had a fantastic season, demonstrating determination, teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship throughout. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT 👏👏👏 Congratulations to Year 12 student Georgia E-K. who has been announced as a finalist for the NSW VET in Schools Student of the Year Training Awards (Western Sydney and Blue Mountains region). This award recognises an exceptional student who is undertaking accredited vocational education and training (VET) as part of their HSC program of study. Georgia has been nominated for her Business Services subject. The regional winner of the NSW VET in Schools Student of the Year Training Award will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 28th May 2026. Good luck Georgia! 🙌

STUDENT LEADERSHIP 🔹 Year 11 student Victoria Mc. is making her voice heard as a member of the Parramatta Youth Alliance (PYA), an initiative launched by State Member for Parramatta, Donna Davis MP. Bringing together students from across the Parramatta Electorate, the PYA empowers young people to discuss the issues that matter to them and gain firsthand insight into the political process. Recently, Victoria and fellow members visited the NSW Parliament, where they met with Minister for Youth, Rose Jackson MLC, and experienced Question Time in action. On Friday 3rd April, Good Friday, eighteen students and staff from Catherine McAuley joined more than 1000 young people from across Sydney for the annual Good Friday Night Walk pilgrimage from Blacktown to St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta. ⛪✝ Along the way, we stopped at local churches including St Michael’s South Blacktown, St Mark’s Coptic Prospect, Our Lady Queen of Peace Greystanes, and our very own Catherine McAuley, sharing in prayer, reflection, and faith-filled journeying together. 🤍 Thank you to Ms Banks and the three students who hosted the pilgrims at the Morley Centre at 4:30am. - Miss R. WELCOME BACK FOR TERM 2! ❄️ It was wonderful to see students return today, ready for a busy and exciting term of learning. For Year 7 students, today was especially significant as it marked the first time wearing the Catherine McAuley Westmead winter uniform. As we move into the cooler months, a reminder that all students are required to wear the correct winter uniform. Compulsory items: • School blazer • Short-sleeved junior or senior school blouse • School winter skirt • Opaque black stockings • Standard black lace-up school shoes Optional items: • School jumper (Junior – maroon with teal trim | Senior – teal with maroon trim) • School trousers (must be fitted and purchased from the School Locker) • School scarf • School cap or bucket hat Please remember that blazers must be worn to and from school during the winter terms.
