The school swimming carnival, held last week on Friday, 28th February at the Parramatta Aquatic Centre, was a wonderful community day.
“The carnival was a fantastic day seeing everyone in their House colours, having fun and showing team spirit!” said Ms Papazoglou, Sport Coordinator. “ We had a great number of students participating in the competitive events and it was great to see everyone earning House points by participating in the novelty event.”
The Year 12 students dressed to the theme of ‘Tropical Paradise’, chosen by the Student Representative Council, which saw them dressed in Hawaiian shirts and leis in House colours. Many of the Year 12 students had mixed feelings about this being their final swimming carnival. They did say the highlight of the day was the chance to come together as a community.
The carnival was filled with both competitive and novelty events with the annual House Relay and Fastest Girl in the School (50m Freestyle) a highlight. Congratulations to Coolock House for winning the House Relay, with Clare placing second and Caritas placing third.
Year 12 students had mixed feelings about this being their last swimming carnival.
Elisha H., Year 12 was named the Fastest Girl In The School after winning the 50m Freestyle race with a time of 29.41 seconds. Well done also to second place Ruby S., Year 9 and Kansinee E., Year 11 who came third.
The final race of the day was the Year 12 Students vs Teachers Relay and despite the teachers trying their best the students won easily!
