Catherine McAuley has had two Year 12 Visual Arts students nominated for ARTEXPRESS, the annual showcase of HSC Visual Arts works.
Congratulations to both Matea N. and Sophia B.who have both been nominated. If selected for ARTEXPRESS they will have their artworks exhibited at one of a number of galleries around NSW throughout 2025. To be nominated for ARTEXPRESS is a wonderful achievement and means the student’s work is amongst the best for that HSC year.
Visual Arts Teacher Mrs Malek is very proud of the work of these students, and indeed all the Year 12 Visual Arts students. “Sophia and Matea have worked diligently on their artworks, and I am very proud of their achievements,” Mrs Malek said.
Both are dedicated artists who have mastered their drawing practices and explored their personal worlds through their bodies of work. I wish them well in the next steps of their artistic journeys.
Matea’s work is called ‘Agape’ and explores her perspective of unconditional love through the symbolism of a domesticated dog. Sophia’s work is called ‘End of Beginning, Too Fast to Fold’ and explores the passage of time and the contrasting range of emotions spawned from the inescapability of change and the inevitable movement of life.
