Catherine McAuley students who attended the LIFTED Rise event
Catherine McAuley students joined with students from across the Diocese for the Lifted Rise event on Thursday 16th May 2024.

Last week students from Years 8 - 10 came together with other students from across the Catholic Parramatta Diocese to attend the ‘Lifted Rise’ event facilitated by Catholic Youth Parramatta, in partnership with the CSPD Mission Team.

The event was an opportunity for participants to come together to experience and strengthen their faith through a combination of various faith-based activities including music, testimony, discussion and prayer. It is a great way for young people to unite and celebrate the faith community they are a part of.

Activities focused on the importance of how to better understand our connection with God through silence, reflection, fellowship, and music and its lyrics. Workshops on the day focused on the gift of the Holy Spirit and its presence, given the upcoming Sunday was Pentecost. Students enjoyed singing, socialising and worshipping.

The following testimonies from students highlight how their faith was strengthened and how they felt taking part in Lifted Rise helped their relationship with God.

The many fun activities which we completed together in groups allowed us to grow closer in our faith with God. We made many new friends and had the most amazing day!

Crystal M.

We learnt how the Holy Spirit is present within everything we do and how it strengthens us to live our lives to the fullest. With its guidance we can follow Jesus' example and live life as faithful Christians

Lilly G.

It gave us a new perspective on praise, worship and the world around us

The workshops showed me the importance of music and being able to communicate using this universal language; the importance of silence which helps me reflect on my actions or to deepen my connection with God; and the importance of trying to build up a conversation between a group and leading it. It was truly a great experience

Maansi R.

The highlight for me was realising the profound impact of music lyrics and how they can deepen our faith and the incredible power of silence between prayer times
