Catherine McAuley students joined with students from across the Diocese for the Lifted Rise event on Thursday 16th May 2024.
Last week students from Years 8 - 10 came together with other students from across the Catholic Parramatta Diocese to attend the ‘Lifted Rise’ event facilitated by Catholic Youth Parramatta, in partnership with the CSPD Mission Team.
The event was an opportunity for participants to come together to experience and strengthen their faith through a combination of various faith-based activities including music, testimony, discussion and prayer. It is a great way for young people to unite and celebrate the faith community they are a part of.
Activities focused on the importance of how to better understand our connection with God through silence, reflection, fellowship, and music and its lyrics. Workshops on the day focused on the gift of the Holy Spirit and its presence, given the upcoming Sunday was Pentecost. Students enjoyed singing, socialising and worshipping.
The following testimonies from students highlight how their faith was strengthened and how they felt taking part in Lifted Rise helped their relationship with God.
The many fun activities which we completed together in groups allowed us to grow closer in our faith with God. We made many new friends and had the most amazing day!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS 🙌 🙌 Congratulations to Year 11 student Mischa D. who is an actor in the winning submission by CAPTIVATE for the upcoming Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) Intersection Festival. The Intersection Festival gives students and teachers the opportunity to work with ATYP to present new Australian stories. The play ‘I Really Like You’ was chosen as the winning CAPTIVATE submission and will be performed by Mischa from Catherine McAuley and a student from St Patrick’s Marist College Dundas. Mischa’s performance at the ATYP Intersection Festival 2024 will take place on Wednesday 7th August at 7.00pm - 8.45pm, The Rebel Theatre, Pier 2/3, 13A Hickson Road, Dawes Point. Also representing Catherine McAuley on the night is Madeline T., Year 11, who has been asked to co-host/MC the event along with a student from St Patrick’s Marist and Parramatta Marist. Well done Madeline!

GREEN & GOLD DAY 💚 💛 FRIDAY 2ND AUGUST 💚 💛 To support our Australian Olympic athletes and kick off our Term 3 fundraising the school will participate in Green & Gold Day on Friday 2nd August. The day is about painting the country in our national colours and being proud of Australia’s sporting achievements, it’s about all Australians coming together and celebrating the green and gold. Staff and students are encouraged to wear green and gold clothes in support of our Olympians on this day. You may like to come in your green and gold jersey or scarf, or just your brightest green and gold outfit! There will be some activities on the day during lunch so get involved and join the Olympic spirit. 🙌 🙌 Students are encouraged to make a gold coin donation on the day which will go towards our Mercy Works Timor Leste Chicken and Egg Project fundraising. AROUND THE CLASSROOMS ➡ Students in Ms McGlone and Ms Malek's Year 9 Religious Education classes have been diligently working on a compassion challenge. They responded to the seven Corporal Works of Mercy and in teams researched their local community needs collaboratively creating a charity. Students then designed a Google site and created informative and promotional materials to visually communicate their initiatives. The students presented this compassion challenge in a gallery walk celebrating and inspiring each other to always strive for higher things. Well done girls!

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS ➡️ On Monday the Year 9 Geography class of Mrs Williams were learning about contours, gradients and aspects. As part of their learning they made mountains out of playdoh so they could visualise the geography skills on their own mountain. Our prac student Miss Khoury taught this lesson with the students.
