A number of Year 12 students performed an example lip sync act at the school assembly to encourage students to register for the upcoming competition.
“We can’t wait to see your amazing lip sync skills”, the House Leaders of Ryan, Mercedes and Clare told students at the school assembly this week.
A highlight on the school calendar, the lip sync competition will be a major fundraiser for the Parramatta Women’s Shelter and will be organised by Ryan, Mercedes and Clare Houses. Students are asked to get together either a solo or group act and prepare a “mind blowing performance” for the judges.
There is a Google form to register available to students on Compass.
“We are excited once again to partner with the Parramatta Women’s Shelter to help empower the women and children in our local community who may be in vulnerable situations”, said Alicia D., Leader of Ryan House.

This year, Year 10 students have been given the opportunity to volunteer at a St Vincent de Paul store on Thursday afternoons. Through this experience, students are supporting people in need and contributing to services that assist those experiencing poverty and homelessness. They are also helping to reduce waste by giving donated goods a second life and keeping quality items in circulation. Alongside making a meaningful community contribution, students are developing valuable retail skills including sorting merchandise, pricing items, and creating visual displays. They are also strengthening their teamwork and customer service skills in a real-world setting. A wonderful example of learning in action with purpose and impact. π©΅

PUBLIC SPEAKING π£ At yesterdayβs assembly, the school proudly recognised the achievements of students who participated in public speaking competitions throughout Term 1, demonstrating confidence, creativity and strong communication skills. 12 students, with two representatives from each year group, represented Catherine McAuley in the Catholic Schools Debating Association (CSDA) Public Speaking Competition with excellent results. Congratulations to all involved, with special mention to Year 10 student Heidi S. who achieved 1st place, and Year 7 student Olive D. who was awarded 5th place. Students also took part in the Clift Public Speaking Competition, hosted by the Rotary Club of Parramatta, which promotes excellence in public speaking across the region. Amelia L. and Christina L.G. represented the school with distinction, delivering thoughtful speeches on the topic 'Service Beyond Self'. Congratulations to all students involved! Their achievements reflect the strength of the student voice within our school community. πππ

WOMEN IN STEM π€ Year 11 students are embracing exciting opportunities through the Khuda Program - a $100 million initiative funded by Robin Khuda, designed to support young women in Western Sydney to pursue pathways in STEM. Delivered in partnership with University of Sydney, the program provides hands-on learning experiences and guaranteed entry into STEM-related university courses, empowering students to build confidence, skills and future career pathways. The program involves six participating schools and runs across Years 11 and 12. Students involved attend sessions at the USYD campus once per term, allowing them to engage in learning experiences beyond the classroom. During the most recent school holidays students explored a range of practical STEM activities with workshops ranging from investigating how sunscreen and materials block UV rays using a spectrophotometer, to working with UV-sensitive beads that change colour with UV intensity, to coding motion sensors and designing towers to withstand earthquake simulations. The workshops gave students valuable insights into real-world applications of science. Programs like Khuda continue to inspire and equip Catherine McAuley students with the knowledge and confidence to pursue futures in science, engineering, medicine and technology.

LEST WE FORGET πΉ On ANZAC Day last week 25 students from Years 7 - 12 attended the Parramatta RSL Dawn Service held at the War Memorial and Cenotaph in Prince Alfred Square, Parramatta. Accompanied by Assistant Principal Ms D. Grigson, Leader of Learning English Mr L. β¨π Kidsβ Lit - The Sport of Reading πβ¨ Yesterday, 8 Year 8 students represented the school as two teams in the Kidsβ Lit competition, accompanied by Mrs K. Lorenzutta. The Kidsβ Lit Quiz is an annual international literature competition for students aged 10β13, designed to reward avid readers and celebrate a love of books. Teams of four answer wide-ranging questions about children's literature, including classics to contemporary stories, authors, and characters, progressing from regional heats to national and world finals. A huge congratulations to the team pictured with their certificate for placing 3rd in an incredibly close competition, only half a point separated 2nd and 3rd place. An amazing effort by all involved! ππ»
