It has been a very busy week for Performing Arts students and teachers at Catherine McAuley!

On Monday our Dance students from both the Jazz and Hip Hop Troupes took part in the CAPTIVATE Arts Factor Dance Festival held at St John XXIII Catholic College.

Our troupes were invited to perform after being selected as an outstanding performance at the CAPTIVATE Secondary Dance Eisteddfod held in Term 3.

Students also had the opportunity to participate in a performance workshop with guest choreographer Marko Panzic, a respected creative director, choreographer, producer and dancer. The workshop gave students the chance to further develop their performance skills in dance.

On Tuesday it was the Catherine McAuley School Band who took the stage in the CAPTIVATE Arts Factor Festival ‘Battle of the Bands’. This is a new initiative for 2023 and saw school rock bands compete against the bands from other schools in the Diocese.

The judging panel consisted of four members of the Arts Factor team who are experienced performers in bands and currently active professionally.

While the McAuley Band did not place Performing Arts Leader of Learning Ms Picone said the band had great fun and loved performing.

On Wednesday afternoon at Catherine McAuley the Performing Arts Showcase was held. This fabulous event was an opportunity for students of performing arts subjects to showcase the skills they have learned in each of their classes and extra-curricular performance groups throughout the year.

The showcase was held in The Morley Centre and was attended by Years 7-10 students and the parents and carers of performers. A full selection of photos and video snippets are available on our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram).
