CSPD students chase national glory after NSW All Schools success

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) students delivered outstanding performances at the recent NSW All Schools Athletics Championships.

The event showcased the next generation of young athletes, with several CSPD students achieving top honours in both track and field. They now aim to carry that momentum into the Australian All Schools Athletics Champions in Melbourne this December.

Cruz Monzon from St Luke's Catholic College Marsden Park, stole the spotlight in the Boys 13 Years 400-metre final, crossing the line in an impressive 52.15 seconds to set a new meet record. Monzon also claimed bronze in the 200-metre final. Penola Catholic College Emu Plains added two gold medals to the tally, with Kai Cullens winning the 16 Boys 400-metres and Lincoln Moore taking out the 13 Boys 3000-metre Walk.

Catherine McAuley Westmead’s Annisha Reader dominated the throws, winning the 15 Girls Hammer Throw and earning podium finishes in Discus (2nd) and Javelin (3rd).

Aaron Chevalier from Parramatta Marist High School took gold in the Boys 15 Years Javelin, while Christopher Nilon of St Patrick's Marist College Dundas, claimed victory in the 16 Boys 5000-metre Walk.

Beyond the gold medals, CSPD students featured consistently across podiums in a wide range of events. Younger athletes such as Milla Mare (Santa Sophia Catholic College Gables) shone in the 12 Girls 800-metres (2nd) and 400-metres (3rd), while Dixie Conlon (Catherine McAuley Westmead) excelled in the 17 Girls Long Jump (2nd) and Triple Jump (3rd), CSPD students continue to make their mark on the state stage.

CSPD’s top-performing students have now qualified for the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in December. With their sights set on national success, these young Western Sydney athletes are ready to make their schools and local community proud.
