The first Chapter Chatter session at Catherine McAuley Westmead
The first Chapter Chatter session discussed the much loved book, 'Better Than The Movies' by Lynn Painter.

Every second Wednesday in the school library there will perhaps be more chatter than usual as the fortnightly gathering of ‘Chapter Chatter’ takes place.

This new initiative, led by the Student Library Ambassadors, is designed to promote both reading and the school library. “We want to encourage students to read more,” say Nishka T. and Katrina N. Library Ambassadors from Year 8.

And we particularly want to encourage students to read over the school holidays!

Chapter Chatter is a fortnightly meeting, held in the school library, which will look at a different theme each session. This may be a particular book or a particular genre. The first gathering was held last week and it looked at the very popular fiction book by Lynn Painter, ‘Better Than The Movies’. It was attended by a very enthusiastic group of Year 8 students who all expressed their love of both the book and the author.

“I love this author and have read all her books,” said Sophija P. “I love reading because it is an escape from reality and this book was very interesting with lovable characters.”

Librarian Mrs Lorenzutta said ‘Better Than The Movies’ is one of THE books at the moment so it was the perfect book to discuss for the first session of Chapter Chatter.

Students can look out for Chapter Chatter notices on Compass or see the signs in the school library. All students are welcome to attend.
