Year 11 Japanese language students visited the Nihongo Tanken Centre last Friday, 25th October 2024.

Last Friday the Year 11 Japanese Continuers class visited the Nihongo Tanken Centre, a NSW Government Education Centre located inside Kirrawee High School, designed to provide students with a stimulating and authentic Japanese environment to further develop their Japanese language skills.

Isabella L., Year 11 has written about this experience:

Our visit to the Nihongo Tanken Centre allowed us to deepen our knowledge of traditional Japanese culture and consolidate our understanding of the language. Along with a group from Sefton High School, we engaged in numerous activities that taught us about the mannerisms and customs of Japanese culture.

The games challenged our reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, as we collaborated and competed against each other. We were also lucky enough to be provided with bento boxes for lunch which were so delicious.

We finished off the day with game show-like trivia which was exciting and actually quite challenging.

As a class, we greatly enjoyed our time on the excursion and would definitely recommend visiting for the junior Japanese students.
