Year 12 Senior student with Year 7 students
Year 7 and Year 12 students came together for their final ‘Grade Chat’ on Thursday, 19th September.

Last Thursday was the final time Year 7 and Year 12 students came together for their ‘Grade Chats’.

The younger students and the older students have met throughout the year as a way for the Year 12 students to provide valuable advice to the Year 7s.

At their final Grade Chat on Thursday Year 7 students were able to ask Year 12 about their high school experience. Questions included, “What are your favourite memories of school?”, “What would you have done differently in your junior years”, and “What advice would you give to your Year 7 self?”

The Year 7 students said some of the advice they had received was to join in on the many activities available at Catherine McAuley. “Get involved and make the most of the opportunities”, is what one Year 7 student said she was told. “Getting involved is a great way to make new friends and it will ensure you have more fun while at school”.

Another Year 7 student said the advice she received was to not stress about her subjects and not to feel disheartened if she tries out for a sporting team and doesn’t get in. “There is always next year”, was the advice.

One of the overwhelming pieces of advice that Year 12 told the Year 7 students was to enjoy their school life. “Enjoy school and be friends with everyone, including your teachers”, said Emma, a Year 12 student. “The time at school will go really quick, we have just realised that!”

Mrs Rehayem thanked the Year 12 students on behalf of herself, the Year 7 students and the Year 7 Wellbeing Team. “Thank you for the leadership you have shown us this year and we wish you the very, very best for your HSC and your future”, Mrs Rehayem said.
