Year 12 student volunteers to Ronald McDonald House

The Year 12 students who have volunteered their time over the past year at Ronald McDonald House were acknowledged at the school assembly last week.

These students spent time every Monday afternoon from 4pm - 6pm in the Ronald McDonald House Learning Centre. The students helped with arts and crafts activities, cooking experiences, played board games, toys and imaginative play, helped to keep the learning space tidy and provided some quality interactions and conversations with young adults who share common interests.

Ronald McDonald House is a charitable organisation that provides a support home away from home for families of seriously ill or injured children who are receiving treatment at Westmead Children’s Hospital. Ms Xuereb, Leader of Pathways and Partnerships, oversees the volunteer program and she thanked the students on behalf of the Catherine McAuley community.

“The students' willingness to step up and contribute speaks volumes about their character and compassion”, Ms Xuereb said. “Their efforts have made a positive impact which was greatly appreciated by both staff and families of Ronald McDonald House. We thank them for their dedication over the term”.

The students were presented with certificates and applauded by the whole school assembly.
