On Thursday, 6th June the Catherine McAuley Athletics Carnival took place at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
A number of competitive and novelty events were run, with many girls getting involved within the events which was great to see! The day finished with the 100m Open Final (otherwise known as the Fastest Girl in the School).
Well done to the eight students were made it through to the 100m Open Final:

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT 👏👏👏 Congratulations to Year 8 student Jolene C. who recently returned from a 3-week European tour across the UK, France and Spain, representing Australia as a member of the prestigious Gondwana National Choir. The choir performed at world-renowned venues such as the Barbican Centre in London, La Madeleine in Paris and the Basilica de Montserrat in Barcelona. They also collaborated with esteemed ensembles such as the Farnham Youth Choir and Royal Scottish National Orchestra in London, and various Spanish choirs in Leioa and Barcelona. The tour culminated in a grand finale at the Teatro Auditori de Granollers in Spain. Well done Jolene!

Ms Fernandes Retires After 50 Years Teaching at Catherine McAuley
Ms Indira Fernandes, a Visual Arts teacher at the school who started in 1975, is retiring after 50 years.

Year 9 students of Miss Grow made meringues last week and today Year 10 students of Mrs Maher made sugar cookies for their unit ‘Food for Special Occasions’.

Hundreds of students, teachers and staff from Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) came together at West HQ Rooty Hill recently for the 2024-2025 Australian Catholic Bishops Conference's (ACBC) Social Justice Statement Schools Launch: Truth & Peace: A Gospel Word in a Violent World.

On Thursday last week Year 8 English students had the opportunity to watch a live performance of ‘Flowers For Algernon’, a science-fiction short story they have been studying. 💐 Written by Daniel Keyes, the story centres on a developmentally disabled man who is given the opportunity to undergo a surgical procedure to increase his mental intelligence. The students said they found the play very entertaining and it was interesting to see their English unit looking at growth being explored through the main character’s intellectual and emotional journey.

IT’S JERSEY THURSDAY 😃 Today is the first time the Year 11 students (who have now started Year 12 coursework) have been able to wear their Class of 2025 school jersey. The design was chosen by the students and can be worn on school grounds every Thursday. Spot Miss Radisavljevic in the photo who graduated from McAuley Class of 2018 and is now a PDHPE and Religious Education Teacher at the school.
