Six senior Geography students attended the UTS Green Infrastructure Conversation last Thursday.

Last Thursday, 30th May six of our senior geographers took up the opportunity to attend the first of a series of conversations on 'Global Game Changes' at the University of Technology Sydney. The topic for the evening was 'The Green Infrastructure Revolution - Cities'.

The students heard from an expert panel that included Anthony Burke, host of Grand Designs Australia; Remy Sietchiping, a UN Strategist and Chief of Policy for the UN Human Settlement Program in Nairobi, Kenya; Rob Stokes, NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces; Germaine Briand, owner and director of Urban Canopee; an innovative urban thinker and Jua Cilliers, Head of the School of the Built Environment at UTS Sydney.

The students listened intently to discussions about issues related to urban landscapes, urban planning, the transformative power of green infrastructure and the need for innovative urban planning.

It was a wonderful evening where students experienced first-hand the importance of deepening our knowledge and understanding of people and how we live, and the importance of this in creating a world where our cities are smarter, greener, more communal and more sustainable.
