Catherine McAuley had 12 students take part in the CSDA (Catholic Schools Debating Association) Public Speaking Competition this year. These competitions are held at different Catholic schools across Sydney during Term 1.
The following students took part in the First Round:
- Hrishita S. Year 7
- Amelia L. Year 7
- Olivia A. Year 9
- Erin M. Year 10
- Rhea T. Year 10
- Niamh M. Year 11
- Kaitlin C. Year 11
The following students made it through to the Quarter Finals:
- Heidi S. Year 8
- Siya P. Year 9
- Veronica F. Year 12
- Alyssa A. Year 12
And the following student made it through to the Grand Final and came 5th:
- Crystal M. Year 8
Catherine McAuley also had two students take part in the Clift Public Speaking Competition - Siya P. and Olivia A..
This is an annual event run by the Rotary Club of Parramatta in honour of the late Ern Clift, a rotary club member for 63 years. Siya was announced as the overall winner of the 2024 competition.
