The Year 9 team who were the winners of the Techgirls NSW Competition.

Congratulations to the Catherine McAuley STEM Club students who were recently announced as the winning NSW Team in the Techgirls competition.

Techgirls is a 12-week STEM entrepreneurship program where students work in teams with a coach and mentor to develop an app which would be relevant to their local community. The winning Year 9 Catherine McAuley team, named ‘Less Than 10’, developed an app aimed to help solve the problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Their app provides personalised workouts which can all be done with limited space and take less than 10 minutes a day.

As well as being announced as the NSW winners the team also received the UN Award and were invited to pitch their app idea at Microsoft Australia headquarters on Tuesday last week. Miss Reynolds said the students did an outstanding job. Each member of the winning team has received a prize pack including a Samsung tablet and a Sphero robot.
