The Youth Eco Summit is one of the biggest youth events of the year
Two Catherine McAuley Year 10 students recently acted as Youth Ambassadors at the Youth Eco Summit held at Sydney Olympic Park.
This event is one of the biggest youth events of the year and brings together Catholic, independent and public school students from across Sydney to learn about Indigenous culture and all aspects of sustainability.
The students took part in art workshops, traditional games, didgeridoo and dance, weaving, cultural walks and learnt about traditional tools and technologies.
Congratulations to Year 10 students Bonni S. and Arabelle S., both members of the Catherine McAuley Strong Sisters Group, who took part in this event.
Arabelle said that attending the summit was an amazing experience as she was able to connect with many primary school students and teach them about her Indigenous culture.
“I thought the day was really successful because the students were getting involved and were able to ask questions that expanded on what I had already explained to them. What I enjoyed the most about the Eco Youth Summit was being able to connect with the other leaders and the students and discuss different Indigenous teachings and how it connects me with my culture even more”.
