A Year 10 student has been selected for the Metro Rugby League Team and the Catherine McAuley netball teams have performed exceptionally well at the recent PDSSSC Netball Gala Day.

Congratulations to Kenzie, Year 10 who has been selected into the 16 Girls Metro Rugby League Team
Congratulations to Kenzie M., Year 10 who has been selected into the 16 Girls Metro Rugby League Team.
Kenzie will play with the team against Sydney, Northern Country and Southern Country on Thursday, 17th August at St Mary’s Stadium.
From this event a NSWCCC 16 Girls Team will be selected to play at the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships to be held at Port Macquarie in the September holidays.
Congratulations Kenzie and the best of luck for your upcoming games!
PDSSSC Netball Gala Day
The Intermediate Netball Team 2 placed in the top 5 at the recent PDSSSC Netball Gala Day
On Wednesday, 19th July Catherine McAuley had four talented teams play at the PDSSSC Netball Gala Day - one junior team, two intermediate teams and one senior team.
All teams played exceptionally well with the Junior Team and Intermediate Team 1 securing spots in the top 5.
The Senior Team faced a tough match in their grand final and emerged as runners up. Intermediate Team 2 remained undefeated throughout the competition and were winners of their grand final.
Congratulations to all teams who participated and thank you to the Netball Coaches Ms Noud and Ms Lee.

Three Catherine McAuley students, who are considering a career in the fashion industry, recently attended a two day workshop on sustainable fashion design at TAFE NSW. 🪡👗 The students had the opportunity to explore fashion design through the lens of sustainability and circular strategies. Angela C, Year 11, who attended the workshop said that, “the main objective of the course was to create a textile bag out of old denim jeans so that it becomes sustainable and reusable. We also listened to a talk with one of the employees from the Australian clothing brand Zimmermann. Everyone who attended is now seriously considering a career in this industry”.

THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT McAULEY 😀 Year 9 students were busy playing sport on the school site (Newcombe Ball, Matball and Recreational Games) whilst keen soccer students were trying out for one of the Catherine McAuley soccer teams whilst Year 7 students were working with their Year 10 Peer Mentors as they look at building their resilience and finally Year 11 VET Hospitality were making Vietnamese rice paper rolls. Year 7 students came together in their Homerooms this morning to create a canvas wall hanging which will hang in their Homeroom. 🥰 🥰 Each artwork will feature a fingerprint from every student in that Homeroom as a reminder of their unity and strength together as a community. The artworks should be completed by next week.

Well done to the students who represented Catherine McAuley at last week’s PDSSSC Cross Country event. Despite the muddy grounds at the Sydney Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park, all students competed commendably. Scarlett L. Year 7 even lost her shoe mid-race but continued running with just one shoe and ended up equal 5th! 🏃♀️🏃♀️ Three Catherine McAuley students made it into the top 10 and will be representing PDSSSC at the NSWCCC Cross Country on 5th June. Congratulations to Niamh M. Year 11, who came 2nd and Neave S. Year 11 and Scarlett L. Year 7 who came equal 5th.

Around the Classrooms ➡️ Is the Force With You? 👽 Year 7 Science students of Miss Raja have recently started a new unit called ‘Is The Force With You?’ As part of this the students have been learning about different types of forces. In class last Friday the students modelled crash test dummies and described their motion in different types of collisions. The students explained their observations with reference to inertia, which is the tendency of an object to resist change in motion and is something we experience everyday in a car, bus or train. Through this, students reinforced the importance of wearing seat belts in moving vehicles to slow down with the vehicle and prevent passengers from continuing their forward motion due to inertia.
