Year 9 students capture and express what life was like living in suburbia during the recent social isolation restrictions.
As part of their ‘Urban World’ unit of work Year 9 Visual Arts students are experimenting with a range of drawing media to make postcard size artworks to capture and express what life was like living in suburbia during the recent social isolation restrictions.
Selected artworks are from Mrs Finnerty’s 9VA2 class.

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS ➡️ Year 8 History students have been learning about the Aztecs this term. Last week students of Miss Alison put together a display showing what they have learnt with students choosing to show different aspects of Aztec culture such as food, clothing, architecture and weapons. The students developed both a written component (such as a brochure or poster) and a visual component for their displays.

YEAR 11 BIOLOGY 🐙 As part of their study looking at Ecosystem Dynamics (Module 4), Year 11 Biology students this week travelled to Long Reef Rock Platform, Collaroy. The students investigated how the abiotic factors affected the biotic factors found in the different zones of the rock platform.

DANCE WINNERS 🙌 🙌 Well done to the Catherine McAuley Dance students who took part in yesterday’s PDSSSC Dance Competition. The Senior Jazz Ensemble (shown in photo) received 2nd place for their dance ‘Von Dutch’. The Hip Hop Crew also placed 2nd for their performance. Congratulations to all dancers and to Mrs Flynn, Dance Teacher!

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS ➡️ Year 9 Geography (9Geo2) worked in small groups this term to understand the unique characteristics of a particular biome, including the impacts of human activities within that biome and strategies implemented to minimise negative impacts. Each group exhibited their biome in a 'Tourism Exhibition' in class yesterday to showcase it as a potential holiday destination. Visitors to the exhibition were delighted by the tourism campaigns which were persuasive and informative as each group attempted to entice holidaying in their location. Mrs Stevens congratulates 9Geo2 on their creativity, enthusiasm and effort towards their biome exhibitions!

Year 12 student Summer K. has been named as the VET in Schools Student of the Year at the NSW Training Awards (Western Sydney and Blue Mountains Region) held on Friday night. Summer was awarded for her work in VET Business Services and VET Fitness. “I was absolutely thrilled to be the winner of the VET in Schools Student of the Year,” said Summer. “It is such an incredible opportunity to be here. SENIOR RETREAT 🌳 Year 12 students had the opportunity last week to spend three days focusing on spiritual growth at the senior retreat. Held at CRU Lake Mac Camp and Conference Centre, Balcolyn, the students took part in guided activities, reflection, shared liturgies and personal and shared prayer. The retreat was facilitated by Catherine McAuley staff and the Passionist Youth Retreat Team.
