‘McAuley Girls Do Amazing Things’ as is evidenced by the numerous student achievements in a wide variety of areas over the past weeks.

Year 11 Student To Compete In North American Irish Dancing Championship 

All the best to Sophie S., Year 11 who will travel to Montreal, Canada at the end of term to compete in the North American Irish Dancing Championship which will be held from 1st - 5th July. This is an elite competition for the best Irish dancers and attracts competitors from all around the world. Sophie will be competing in the Solo event for 16 Year Girls.

Sophie has been participating in Irish dancing for 9 years through the Halloran Dance School, Moorebank. She says she likes Irish dancing because of all the friends she has made from around Australia and she finds competing a fun experience. Sophie will travel with her mother to the competition and is looking forward to the experience of competing in an international competition. 

Year 9 Student Competes In International Tennis Foundation Tournament In Malaysia

Well done to Chanel A., Year 9 who recently competed in the International Tennis Federation World Tennis Tour Juniors Tournament in Malaysia. Chanel made it through to Round 2 in what was a very high standard of competition. Chanel was chosen to compete at this level following her success in the Australian Clay Court Championship in Canberra over the recent school holidays. In this event Chanel placed 4th nationally. Congratulations Chanel!

Year 9 Student To Compete In NSW All School Swimming Championships

Congratulations to Elisha H., Year 9 who has been selected to compete in the NSW All School Swimming Championships to take place on Friday, 3rd June at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. It is a significant achievement to compete in this competition given it brings together all the very best swimmers from all NSW School Sporting Associations. Good luck to Elisha!

Year 7 Student Enters Young Archie 2022 Competition

Well done to Year 7 student Shenaya N. for her participation in the Young Archie 2022 competition. This annual competition is run by the Art Gallery of NSW. Congratulations on entering this incredible competition.

Former School Principal Receives Order of Australia Medal At Government House

Not a student achievement but a very significant achievement for former Science Teacher and Catherine McAuley School Principal (1984 - 1987) Sr Barbara McDonough RSM who received her Order of Australia Medal at an Investiture Ceremony held at Government House in Sydney on Wednesday, 18th May. Sr Barbara was awarded in this year’s Australia Day Honours List for her services to the church and education. The ceremony was hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC.
