Year 11 students consider their options at The University of Sydney.

A group of our Year 11 students recently had the opportunity to attend the Future Focus Day at the University of Sydney, gaining valuable insight into university life and post school study options.

Students participated in a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions featuring current university students. The highlight of the day was their chosen hands-on session in a faculty of their choice, which could have been either Health Science, Business, Architecture, Design and Planning, Medicine and Health, Arts and Social Sciences, Law or Engineering.

Students visited The Women’s College at USyd, the first female college in Australia.

In general the day showed me that there are many options for me outside of high school. Exposure to these facilities has made me more motivated in my studies.

To conclude the day, students were fortunate to enjoy a guided tour of The Women’s College, one of the University’s residential colleges. Students were impressed by the excellent facilities, strong academic support and various community events. They recognised the value of being part of a college environment that empowers young women to succeed and fosters important social connections throughout their tertiary studies.

While there were many memorable moments during the visit, a clear highlight was having the chance to take a photo with the Dean of Students’ poodle, Lola.
