Year 8 Prayer Books
Year 8 Homerooms will now each have their own Prayer Book to express and reflect on their faith.
The Year 8 Liturgy Leaders have designed and created a Prayer Book for every Year 8 Homeroom.
Year 8 will have this Prayer Book until the end of Year 12 as it will enable us to grow as a Homeroom and a Grade as one community.
Year 8 students can have the opportunity to express and reflect on their faith in a meaningful and thoughtful way by writing special prayers and intentions. These special prayers will be kept and read by our Homerooms.

WINTER WARMTH ❄️ The Charity Crochet Group, with additional help from family members and staff, have crocheted many woollen squares which have been sewn together into a number of blankets. Seven Year 10 students represented Catherine McAuley in the Australian Brain Bee Challenge NSW State Finals held last week on Thursday, 14th August at UNSW. 🐝🧠 All students took part in the individual round, with Maria J. reaching the semifinals and placing in the Top 10! In addition, four students - Victoria M., Suzanna F., Maria J. and Euna S., competed in the team event, where they faced off against seven other schools. Well done to all students involved.

CATHERINE McAULEY PARTNERS WITH UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY 🎓 The school is pleased to announce a partnership with the University of Sydney in the Khuda Women in STEM Program, a new 20-year program funded by a $100 million donation from the Khuda Family Foundation, to support young women from Western Sydney to explore and excel in STEM education and careers. The program has three components: 1. Khuda STEM Outreach: engaging all students at the school in Years 7 - 10 in hands-on activities run by the University of Sydney Science and Engineering Outreach teams. 2. Khuda Women in STEM Academy: selected students in Years 11 and 12 participate in a dedicated program of STEM exploration and skill development, receiving a $4,000 per annum scholarship, tutoring and mentoring, as well as an admissions pathway for eligible Engineering and Science degrees at the University of Sydney. 3. Khuda Scholars Program: for graduates of the Khuda Academy who study an eligible Engineering or Science degree at the University of Sydney. Students receive a guaranteed scholarship together with academic and careers support and the benefits of a vibrant women in STEM community. Applications have opened to the Khuda Academy for 2026, and students currently in Year 10 and 11 who have diverse interests in STEM, including those who are undecided about STEM as a career, may like to consider applying. On Friday morning Fr Tom Green, Assistant Priest at Saint Patrick's Cathedral, was our presider for Mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Staff and students from Catherine McAuley Westmead, Parramatta Marist High School and Mother Teresa Primary School gathered together in the Morley Centre to celebrate Mary's Assumption into heaven. In his homily, Fr Tom spoke about how death occurs and it may be seen as "unusual". However as Catholics, we believe in life after death and hope to join Mary and the Saints in heaven.

Last Friday, Year 7 students had an unforgettable day at Taronga Zoo! 🦁🐧🦍🐍 The students have been studying the classification unit ‘Who am I?’ which looks at how animals are grouped according to their different/similar features and this excursion gave the students the opportunity to apply what they had learnt. A perfect opportunity to bring their science learning to life!
