Year 10 students explored career options with Sydney Trains at the 'Immersive Exploring Rail Day' held on Thursday, 24th July 2025.

A group of Year 10 students attended a careers day led by Sydney Trains offering them a series of engaging hands-on workshops.

A number of Year 10 students participated last week, on Thursday 24th July, in the Sydney Trains Immersive Exploring Rail Day at the Sydney Trains Hub in Clyde.

Throughout the day the 15 Year 10 students in attendance rotated through interactive workshops and presentations highlighting a broad range of career pathways within Sydney Trains. These included roles in train signalling, train planning, telecommunications, asset management and drone piloting, as well as technical trades such as electricians and electrical engineers. Students were able to engage with current employees and apprentices, ask questions, and even trial some of the technology used across the network.

The experience also helped students make important connections between their current studies and future career opportunities. By learning about the variety of entry points, such as apprenticeships, traineeships, and graduate programs, students gained a clearer understanding of the skills and qualifications needed for different roles. This knowledge will support them in making more informed decisions when it comes to selecting their senior subjects and planning their post-school pathways.
