The Mathematics Department runs a program during Terms 2 and 3 called ‘Maths PASS’ which allows for peer assisted study sessions to take place each week with high performing Year 10 Mathematics students assisting younger students in Years 7 & 8 with their maths work.
The aim of the program is to seek to enhance the younger students’ confidence and improve their understanding of mathematics. The Year 10 students have volunteered their time to work one on one with a younger student and have been trained in ways to best assist. The tutoring sessions take place once a week on Wednesdays at lunchtime and are also attended by Ms Susan Dowling, Mathematics Teacher and Maths PASS Coordinator.
There are still Year 10 tutors who are available to assist Years 7 & 8 students as part of the program. If you would like your daughter to be involved or have any further questions about Maths PASS please contact Ms Susan Dowling or Mrs Lorena Thill, Acting Mathematics Coordinator at sdowling@parra.catholic.edu.au or lthill@parra.catholic.edu.au respectively.
